I have said to the pit, Thou art my father; to the worms, my mother, and my sister.


because thou wilt not leave my soul in Hades, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

They shall lie down alike in the dust, and the worms shall cover them.

all flesh would perish together, and man would turn again unto dust.

that he should still live for ever and not see corruption.

Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled; thou takest away their spirit, they cease to exist and return to their dust.

All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all shall turn to dust again.

I descended to the roots of the mountains; the earth put her bars about me for ever; yet thou hast brought up my life out of the grave, O LORD my God.

he, seeing this before, spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that his soul was not left in Hades, neither did his flesh see corruption.

And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said this, I will give you the sure mercies promised to David. Therefore he also says in another place, Thou shalt not suffer thy Holy One to see corruption. but he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption.


Now this I say, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither does corruption inherit incorruption.
