And they said, "We see clearly that Yahweh has been with you, so we thought let there be an oath between us--between us and you--and let us {make} a covenant with you

If you mistreat my daughters, and if you take wives besides my daughters, [when] there is no man with us, see--God [is] a witness between me and you." So then, command that they may cut cedars for me from Lebanon, and let my servants be with your servants. My servants will bring [them] down from Lebanon to the sea, and I will make them [into] rafts in the sea [to float to] the place which you indicated to me. Then I shall break them up there, and you may carry [them further], and {you shall meet my needs} by giving food for my house." So Hiram was giving to Solomon the cedar timbers and the cypress timbers, {everything he needed}. Then Solomon gave to Hiram twenty thousand dry measures of wheat [as] food for his household, and twenty dry measures of {specially prepared olive oil}; thus Solomon gave to Hiram year by year.


And Joshua made peace with them, and {he made a covenant with them} to allow them to live happily, and the leaders of the congregation swore [an oath] to them. And it happened that at the end of three days, after they made a covenant with them, they heard that {they were their neighbors} and living among them.









{Did not one God make them?} But a remnant of [the] spirit is his. And what does the one [God] desire? An offspring of God. {You must be attentive to} your spirit, and you must not be unfaithful to the wife of your youth.




May he descend like rain on mown grass, like showers watering [the] earth.



They ascended [the] mountains [and] drained though the valleys to [the] place that you established for them.


For ground that drinks the rain that comes often upon it, and brings forth vegetation usable to those [people] {for whose sake} [it is] also cultivated, shares a blessing from God.


Moreover, your servant [is] warned by them; in keeping them [is] great reward.

Now these [things] happened to those [people] as an example, but are written for our instruction, on whom the ends of the ages have come.


And he humbled you and let you go hungry, and [then] he fed you with that which you did not know nor did your ancestors know, in order to make you know that not by bread alone but by all [that] goes out of the mouth of Yahweh humankind shall live.







I will not ever forget your precepts, for by them you revive me.






I have taken as my own your testimonies forever, for they [are] the joy of my heart.



Remember [your] word to your servant, upon which you have caused me to hope.








And it shall be with him, and he shall read it all the days of his life, so that he may learn to revere Yahweh your God by {diligently observing} all the word of this law and these rules, [so as] not to exalt his heart above his countrymen and not to turn aside from the commandment to the right or to the left, so that {he may reign long over his kingdom}, he and his children in the midst of Israel."








As for [the] works of humankind, by the word of your lips, I have kept [from] the ways of [the] violent.
