Now many have become [Levitical] priests, since they are prevented by death from remaining in office. But because He remains forever, He holds His priesthood permanently. Therefore He is always able to save those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to intercede for them. For this is the kind of high priest we need: holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens. He doesn't need to offer sacrifices every day, as high priests do-first for their own sins, then for those of the people. He did this once for all when He offered Himself. For the law appoints as high priests men who are weak, but the promise of the oath, which came after the law, [appoints] a Son, who has been perfected forever.

The Lord of Hosts has sworn by Himself:
I will fill you up with men as with locusts,
and they will sing the victory song over you.
and they will sing the victory song over you.
And who did He swear to that they would not enter His rest, if not those who disobeyed?
The Lord of Hosts has sworn:
As I have purposed, so it will be;
as I have planned it, so it will happen.
as I have planned it, so it will happen.
in order to establish the oath I swore to your ancestors, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as it is today.”
I answered, “Amen, Lord.”
I answered, “Amen, Lord.”
For by Myself I have sworn”—this is the Lord’s declaration—“Bozrah will become a desolation, a disgrace, a ruin, and a curse, and all her cities will become ruins forever.”

and said, “By Myself I have sworn,” this is the Lord’s declaration: “Because you have done this thing and have not withheld your only son,
swore
(for we who have believed enter the rest), in keeping with what He has said:
So I swore in My anger,
they will not enter My rest.
And yet His works have been finished since the foundation of the world,
they will not enter My rest.
And yet His works have been finished since the foundation of the world,
a promise He will not abandon:
“I will set one of your descendants
on your throne.
He swore an oath by the One who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and what is in it, the earth and what is in it, and the sea and what is in it: “There will no longer be an interval of time,
Truth has gone from My mouth,
a word that will not be revoked:
Every knee will bow
every tongue will swear allegiance.
But if you do not obey these words, then I swear by Myself”—this is the Lord’s declaration—“that this house will become a ruin.”

The Lord has sworn,
and He will not change His mind,
You are a priest forever.
