Nicodemus asked: How could a man be born when he is old? Can he enter his mother's womb again and be born? Do not marvel that I say you must be born again. The wind blows where it will. You hear the sound of it. Yet you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. It is like this with every one who is born from the Spirit. Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. He came to Jesus by night, and said to him: Rabbi! We know you are a teacher from God. No one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him. Nicodemus asked: How can these things be? Jesus answered: Are you a teacher of Israel and you do not understand these things?
If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and have active faith in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes for righteousness. And with the mouth one declares for salvation.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy he gave us a new birth to a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
If any man is in Christ, he is a new creature: the old things have passed away. Behold, they have become new.
You have been given a new birth, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, through the word of God, which lives and endures. You have purified your hearts by obeying the truth. You have genuine affection for the brothers and sisters. So always love one another intensely (extremely) (deeply) from the heart. All people are like grass. But the word of our God abides forever. This is the word of good tidings that was preached to you.
Then Peter said: Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift from God is everlasting life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
By grace (Greek: charis, divine favor, loving-kindness) you have been saved through faith. It is not from you. It is the gift from God! It is not the result of works. So no man should boast.
You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.
not by works done in righteousness, which we did, but according to his mercy he saved us, through the washing of regeneration (restoration) (spiritual rebirth) and renewing (renovation) of the Holy Spirit.
Jehovah God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life. The man became a living being.
You were dead through your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh. He made you alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses.
For God loved the world so much, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever has an active faith in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
This was a symbol pointing to baptism, which now saves you. It is not the washing off of bodily dirt, but the promise made to God for a good conscience. It saves you through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Using his own will, he gave us birth through the word of truth. This way we would be a kind of first fruits of his creatures.
But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God. They are foolishness to him! He cannot know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
He gave the right to become children of God to all who received him. Even to those who believe in his name.
No man can come to me unless the Father, who sent me, draws him. I will resurrect him (raise him up) in the last day.
We were buried therefore with him through baptism into death. Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, that we might walk in the newness of life.
You have been buried with him in baptism. You were also raised with him through faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.
But you are not in flesh but in Spirit, if indeed God's Spirit dwells in you. If any one does not have the Spirit of Christ he does not belong to him.
You were also circumcised in him with a circumcision not made with hands, in the putting off of the body of the flesh, in the circumcision of Christ.
