At which, one of Jesus's company laying his hand upon his sword, drew it, and striking at a servant of the high priest's, took off his ear. but Jesus said to him, put up your sword in its place: for all that take to the sword, shall perish by the sword. do you think my father, if I should now desire it of him, would not instantly send me more than twelve legions of angels? but how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, which say, that thus it must happen?
