O LORD, how long shall I cry, and you will not hear! even cry out unto you of violence, and you will not save!

The tents of robbers prosper, and they that provoke God are secure; into whose hand God brings abundantly.

For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning.

All things have I seen in the days of my vanity: there is a just man that perishes in his righteousness, and there is a wicked man that prolongs his life in his wickedness.

All things come alike to all: there is one event to the righteous, and to the wicked; to the good and to the clean, and to the unclean; to him that sacrifices, and to him that sacrifices not: as is the good, so is the sinner; and he that swears, as he that fears an oath.

Righteous are you, O LORD, when I plead with you: yet let me talk with you of your judgments: Why does the way of the wicked prosper? why are all they happy that deal very treacherously?

Yet you say, The way of the Lord is not equal. Hear now, O house of Israel; Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal?

Saying, These last have worked but one hour, and you have made them equal unto us, who have borne the burden and heat of the day.

What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.

I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause: Who does great things and unsearchable; marvelous things without number: Who gives rain upon the earth, and sends waters upon the fields: read more.
To set up on high those that are low; that those who mourn may be lifted to safety. He frustrates the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their plans. He takes the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the cunning is quickly ended. They meet with darkness in the daytime, and grope in the noonday as in the night. But he saves the poor from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the mighty. So the poor has hope, and injustice shuts her mouth. Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects: therefore despise not the chastening of the Almighty: For he bruises, and binds up: he wounds, and his hands make whole. He shall deliver you in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch you. In famine he shall redeem you from death: and in war from the power of the sword.

I will say unto God, Do not condemn me; show me why you contend with me. Is it good unto you that you should oppress, that you should despise the work of your hands, and smile upon the counsel of the wicked? Have you eyes of flesh? or see you as man sees? read more.
Are your days as the days of man? are your years as man's days, That you inquire after my iniquity, and search after my sin? You know that I am not wicked; and there is none that can deliver out of your hand. Your hands have made me and fashioned me together totally; yet you do destroy me. Remember, I beseech you, that you have made me as the clay; and will you bring me into dust again? Have you not poured me out as milk, and curdled me like cheese? You have clothed me with skin and flesh, and have knit me together with bones and sinews. You have granted me life and favor, and your care has preserved my spirit. And these things have you hid in your heart: I know that this is with you. If I sin, then you mark me, and you will not acquit me from my iniquity. If I am wicked, woe unto me; and if I am righteous, yet can I not lift up my head. I am full of disgrace; therefore see my affliction; For it increases. You hunt me as a fierce lion: and again you show yourself awesome against me. You renew your witnesses against me, and increase your indignation upon me; changes and war are ever with me. Why then have you brought me forth out of the womb? Oh that I had died, and no eye had seen me! I would have been as though I had not been; I would have been carried from the womb to the grave. Are not my days few? cease then, and let me alone, that I may take comfort a little, Before I go where I shall not return, even to the land of darkness and the shadow of death;

The tents of robbers prosper, and they that provoke God are secure; into whose hand God brings abundantly. But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach you; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell you: Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach you: and the fish of the sea shall declare unto you. read more.
Who knows not among all these that the hand of the LORD has done this? In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind. Does not the ear test words? and the mouth taste its food? With the ancient is wisdom; and in length of days understanding. With him is wisdom and strength, he has counsel and understanding. Behold, he breaks down, and it cannot be built again: he shuts up a man, and there can be no opening. Behold, he withholds the waters, and they dry up: also he sends them out, and they overturn the earth. With him is strength and wisdom: the deceived and the deceiver are his. He leads counselors away plundered, and makes the judges fools. He looses the bonds of kings, and girds their loins with a waistband. He leads princes away plundered, and overthrows the mighty. He takes away the speech of the trustworthy, and takes away the understanding of the aged. He pours contempt upon princes, and weakens the strength of the mighty. He uncovers deep things out of darkness, and brings out to light the shadow of death. He increases the nations, and destroys them: he enlarges the nations, and leads them away. He takes away the heart of the chiefs of the people of the earth, and causes them to wander in a wilderness where there is no way.

Behold, in this you are not just: I will answer you, for God is greater than man. Why do you strive against him? for he gives not account of any of his matters. For God speaks once, yea twice, yet man perceives it not. read more.
In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls upon men, in slumberings upon the bed; Then he opens the ears of men, and seals their instruction, That he may turn man from his purpose, and hide pride from man. He keeps back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword. He is chastened also with pain upon his bed, and the multitude of his bones with strong pain: So that his life abhors bread, and his soul the choicest food. His flesh is consumed away, that it cannot be seen; and his bones that were not seen now stick out. Yea, his soul draws near unto the grave, and his life to those who bring death. If there be a messenger with him, a mediator, one of a thousand, to show unto man his uprightness: Then he is gracious unto him, and says, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom. His flesh shall be younger than a child's: he shall return to the days of his youth: He shall pray unto God, and he will be favorable unto him: and he shall see his face with joy: for he will render unto man his righteousness. He looks upon men, and if any say, I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it profited me not; He will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light. Lo, all these things works God twice, three times, with man, To bring back his soul from the pit, to be enlightened with the light of life.

Righteous are you, O LORD, when I plead with you: yet let me talk with you of your judgments: Why does the way of the wicked prosper? why are all they happy that deal very treacherously?

They have grown fat, they shine: yea, they pass over the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not defend.

For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree.

Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches.

By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:

How lovely are your tents, O Jacob, and your tabernacles, O Israel!

The tents of robbers prosper, and they that provoke God are secure; into whose hand God brings abundantly.

[A Psalm of David.] Fret not yourself because of evildoers, neither be you envious of the workers of iniquity.

The tents of robbers prosper, and they that provoke God are secure; into whose hand God brings abundantly.

A dreadful sound is in his ears: in prosperity the destroyer shall come upon him.

That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment?

Though a sinner does evil a hundred times, and his days are prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, who fear before him: But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow; because he fears not before God.

I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree. Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.

Why do you show me iniquity, and cause me to behold trouble? for plundering and violence are before me: and there are those that raise up strife and contention. Therefore the law is slacked, and justice does never go forth: for the wicked does surround the righteous; therefore perverse judgment proceeds.

I have seen the foolish taking root: but suddenly I cursed his habitation. His children are far from safety, and they are crushed in the gate, neither is there any to deliver them. Whose harvest the hungry eats up, and takes it even out of the thorns, and the robber swallows up their wealth.

He wanders abroad for bread, saying, Where is it? he knows that the day of darkness is ready at his hand.

Because he covers his face with his fatness, and makes heavy fat on his waist.

He shall not be rich, neither shall his wealth continue, neither shall he overspread the earth with it.

In the fullness of his sufficiency he shall be in distress: every hand of the wicked shall come upon him.

Why do the wicked live, become old, yea, are mighty in power? Their descendants are established in their sight with them, and their offspring before their eyes. Their houses are safe from fear, neither is the rod of God upon them. read more.
Their bull breeds, and fails not; their cow calves, and casts not her calf. They send forth their little ones like a flock, and their children dance. They sing to the tambourine and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the flute. They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave.

For he sees that wise men die, likewise the fool and the senseless person perish, and leave their wealth to others. Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue forever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names. Nevertheless man being in honor abides not: he is like the beasts that perish. read more.
This their way is their folly: yet their posterity approve their sayings. Selah. Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling. But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah.

For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. For there are no pains in their death: but their strength is firm. They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men. read more.
Therefore pride surrounds them as a chain; violence covers them as a garment. Their eyes stand out with abundance: they have more than heart could wish. They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily. They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walks through the earth. Therefore his people return here: and waters of a full cup are wrung out to them. And they say, How does God know? and is there knowledge in the most High? Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches. Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocence. For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning. If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I would have been untrue to the generation of your children. When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me; Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end. Surely you did set them in slippery places: you cast them down into destruction. How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors. As a dream when one awakes; so, O Lord, when you awake, you shall despise their image. Thus my soul was grieved, and I was pierced in my heart. So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before you.

A senseless man knows not; neither does a fool understand this. When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed forever:

Righteous are you, O LORD, when I plead with you: yet let me talk with you of your judgments: Why does the way of the wicked prosper? why are all they happy that deal very treacherously? You have planted them, yea, they have taken root: they grow, yea, they bring forth fruit: you are near in their mouth, and far from their heart.

You are of purer eyes than to behold evil, and can not look on iniquity: why do you look upon them that deal treacherously, and hold your tongue when the wicked devours the man that is more righteous than he? And make men like the fish of the sea, like the creeping things, that have no ruler over them? They take up all of them with the hook, they catch them in their net, and gather them in their dragnet: therefore they rejoice and are glad. read more.
Therefore they sacrifice unto their net, and burn incense unto their dragnet; because by them their portion is luxurious, and their food plentiful. Shall they therefore empty their net, and continually slay the nations without mercy?
