Jesus, however, had been speaking of his death; but as they imagined he meant natural sleep, he then told them plainly, "Lazarus is dead; and for your sakes I am glad I was not there, that you may believe. Come now, let us go to him." Whereupon Thomas (called 'the Twin') said to his fellow-disciples, "Let us go too, let us die along with him!"
