But yet, many even of the rulers believed on him; but on account of the Pharisees, they would not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue; for they loved the glory of men more than the glory of God.

By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ came in the flesh, is from God: and whatever spirit confesses not that Jesus Christ came in the flesh, is not from God: and this is the spirit of antichrist, of which you have heard that it comes, and is now already in the world.

But yet, many even of the rulers believed on him; but on account of the Pharisees, they would not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue; for they loved the glory of men more than the glory of God.

Not every one that says to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name, and in thy name cast out demons, and in thy name done many mighty works? And then will I profess to them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity.

"Whoever, therefore, will confess me before men, him will I also confess before my Father who is in heaven. But whoever will deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father who is in heaven.

John testified of him, and cried, saying: This is he of whom I said: He that comes after me, is now before me, for he existed before me. And from his fullness have we all received, even grace for grace; for the law was given through Moses, but the grace and the truth came through Jesus Christ. read more.
No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he has revealed him.

His parents said this, because they feared the Jews. For the Jews had already agreed, that if any one should confess him to be the Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue. For this reason his parents said: He is of age; ask him. Then, the second time, they called the man who had been blind, and said to him: Give glory to God; we know that this man is a sinner. read more.
He answered and said: If he is a sinner, I know it not. One thing I do know, that having been blind, I now see. They said to him again: "What did he for you? How did he open your eyes? He answered them: I have already told you, and you did not understand; why would you hear it again? Do you also wish to become his disciples? They reviled him, and said: You are the disciple of that man; but we are the disciples of Moses. We know that God spoke to Moses; but as for this man, we know not whence he is. The man answered and said to them: Why, there is some thing wonderful in this, that you know not whence he is, and yet he has opened my eyes. We know that God hears not sinners; but if any one be a worshiper of God, and do his will, him he hears. Since the beginning it has not been heard that any one opened the eyes of one who had been born blind. If this man were not of God, he could do nothing. They answered and said to him: You were wholly born in sins, and do you teach us? And they cast him out. Jesus heard that they had cast him out. And having found him, he said to him: Do you believe on the Son of God? He answered and said: Who is he, sir, that I may believe on him? Jesus said to him: You have seen him; and it is he that talks with you. He said: Lord, I believe; and he worshiped him.

that if you will confess with your mouth, that Jesus is Lord, and will believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart we believe, in order to justification; and with the mouth we make confession, it order to salvation. For the scripture says: He that believes on him shall not be ashamed.

He has blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart, lest they should see with their eyes, and understand with their heart, and should turn, and I should give them health. Jesus cried, and said: He that believes on me, believes not on me, but on him that sent me. And he that sees me, sees him that sent me. I have come a light into the world, that he who believes on me, may not remain in darkness. And if any one hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not; for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. He that rejects me, and receives not my words, has that which judges him: the word which I have spoken, that shall judge him in the last day. For I have not spoken of myself: but the Father who sent me, he gave me commandment what I should say, and what I should speak. And I know that his commandment is life eternal. What things I speak therefore, as the Father has said to me, so I speak.

And this is the condemnation, that light has come into the world, and men have loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that does evil, hates the light, and comes not to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.

I know that you are the posterity of Abraham; yet you seek to kill me, because my word has no place in you. I speak what I have seen with my Father, and you do what you have seen with your father. They answered and said to him: Abra ham is our father. Jesus said to them: If you were the children of Abraham, you would do the works of Abraham. read more.
But now you seek to kill me, a man that has spoken to you the truth, which I have heard from God; this Abraham did not. You do the works of your father. They said to him: We were not born of lewdness; we have one father, God. Jesus said to them: If God were your father, you would love me; for I came forth from God and have come hither; nor, indeed, did I come of myself, but he sent me. Why do you not know what I say? Because you can not understand my words. You are of your father, the devil; and the desires of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the be ginning, and stood not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks that which is false, he speaks from what is his own; for he is a liar, and the father of it. But because I speak the truth, you believe me not. Which of you convicts me of sin? If I speak the truth, why do you not believe me? He that is of God, hears God's words. For this reason you do not hear them, because you are not of God.

Jesus answered them: I have told you, and you do not believe. The works which I do in my Father's name, these testify of me. But you believe not, because you are not of my sheep. As I said to you, my sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: read more.

Jesus answered and said to him: Are you the teacher of Israel, and do not understand these things? Verily, verily, I say to you, we speak that which we know, and testify to that which we have seen; and you receive not our testimony. If I have told you of earthly things, and you believe not, how will you believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?

Then Jesus said to them: Yet a little while is the light with you: walk while you have the light, lest the darkness overtake you. For he that walks in the darkness knows not whither he goes. While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become the sons of light. These things spoke Jesus, and he departed, and concealed himself from them.
