And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him.
This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.
And behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
And others tempting him, sought from him a sign from heaven.
But he perceived their craftiness, and said to them, Why tempt ye me?

And on the morrow, when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said to him, Take care of him: and whatever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee. Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbor to him that fell among the robbers? And he said, He that showed mercy on him. Then said Jesus to him, Go, and do thou likewise.

But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came were he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. And on the morrow, when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said to him, Take care of him: and whatever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.
