I will raise up a prophet for them {from among their countrymen} like you, and I will place my words into his mouth, and he shall speak to them {everything that I command him}.

And the crowds were saying, "This is the prophet Jesus from Nazareth of Galilee!"

and [although they] wanted to arrest him, they were afraid of the crowds, because they looked upon him as a prophet.

But others were saying, "He is Elijah," and others were saying, "[He is] a prophet like one of the prophets."

And fear seized [them] all, and they began to glorify God, saying, "A great prophet has appeared among us!" and "God has visited to help his people!"

Nevertheless, it is necessary [for] me to be on the way today and tomorrow and on the next [day], because it is not possible [for] a prophet to perish outside Jerusalem.

And he said to them, "What [things]?" So they said to him, "The things concerning Jesus the Nazarene, a man who was a prophet, powerful in deed and word before God and all the people,


Now [when] the people saw the sign that he performed, they began to say, "This one is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world!"

Then, [when they] heard these words, [some] from the crowd began to say, "This man is truly the Prophet!"

So they said to the blind man again, "What do you say about him, because he opened your eyes?" And he said, "He is a prophet."

Moses said, 'The Lord God will raise up for you a prophet like me from your brothers. You will listen to him in everything that he says to you.


[There] shall not be found among you one who makes his son or his daughter go through the fire, [or] {one who practices divination}, [or] an interpreter of signs, or an augur, or sorcerer,

Now [when] the Pharisee who invited him saw [this], he spoke to himself, saying, "If this man were a prophet, he would have known who and what kind of woman [this is] who is touching him, that she is a sinner."

And the crowds were saying, "This is the prophet Jesus from Nazareth of Galilee!"

This man came to him at night and said to him, "Rabbi, we know that [you are] a teacher who has come from God, for no one is able to perform these signs that you are performing unless God were with him."

"Yahweh your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from your midst, from your countrymen, [and] to him you shall listen.

"This is the Moses who said to the sons of Israel, 'God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your brothers.'

And it will be [that] every soul who does not listen to that prophet will be destroyed utterly from the people.'

how will we escape [if we] neglect so great a salvation which had [its] beginning [when it] was spoken through the Lord [and] was confirmed to us by those who heard,

And as he approached the gate of the town, behold, a man who had died was being carried out, his mother's only son, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with her. And [when] the Lord saw her, he had compassion for her and said to her, "Do not weep!" read more.
And he came up [and] touched the bier, and those who were carrying [it] stopped. And he said, "Young man, I say to you, get up!" And the dead man sat up and began to speak, and he gave him to his mother. And fear seized [them] all, and they began to glorify God, saying, "A great prophet has appeared among us!" and "God has visited to help his people!"


And it happened that on the next [day] he went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd went with him. And as he approached the gate of the town, behold, a man who had died was being carried out, his mother's only son, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with her.
