Which one of the two did the will of the father? They say to Him, The first. Jesus says to them, Truly I say unto you, that the publicans and harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you believed him not: but the publicans and harlots believed him, and you, seeing, did not afterward regret it, in order that you might believe him. Hear ye another parable. A man was a landlord, who planted a vineyard, and placed a hedge around it, and dug a wine-trough in it, and built a tower, and gave it out to husbandmen, and went away. And when the time of the fruits drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, to receive his fruits; and the husbandmen taking his servants, beat one, and slew one, and stoned another. Again he sent other servants, more than the first: and they did unto them likewise. And afterward he sent to them his own son, saying, They will reverence my son. But the husbandmen, seeing the son, said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and take possession of his inheritance. And taking him, they cast him out of the vine-yard, and slew him. Then when the lord of the vine-yard may come, what will he do to those husbandmen? They say to Him, He will certainly destroy those wicked men, and give the vineyard to other husband-men, who will render to him the fruits in their seasons. Jesus says, Have you not read in the Scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same has come to be the head of the corner: this was with the Lord, and is marvelous in our eyes? Therefore I say unto you, that the kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits of it. OMITTED TEXT
