And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. And if someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to him who asks you, and from him who wants to borrow from you do not turn away. "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,

No one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, for the patch pulls away from the garment, and the tear is made worse. Neither do they put new wine into old wineskins; if they do, the skins burst, and the wine is spilled, and the skins are ruined. But they put new wine into new wineskins, and so both are preserved."

And beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he explained to them the things concerning himself in all the scriptures.
So they said to one another, "Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be." This happened that the Scripture might be fulfilled which says: "They divided my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots." This is what the soldiers did.
