promising them liberty, being they themselves the slaves of corruption: for he who is overcome by someone is subject to bondage by the one that overcame him.

Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever commits sin is the slave of sin.

No temptation has taken you but such as is common to man, but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above what ye are able but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death and broke their bonds asunder.

All the labour of man is for his mouth, and with all this the appetite is not filled.

My son, in addition to this, be admonished: of making many books there is no end, and much study is a weariness of the flesh.

not given to wine, not hurtful, not greedy of dishonest gain, but gentle, not contentious, not covetous;

But now I have written unto you not to associate with anyone calling himself a brother if he is a fornicator or covetous or an idolater or a railer or a drunkard or an extortioner; with such a one do not even eat.

For the bishop must be blameless, as a steward of God; not arrogant, not quick to anger, not given to wine, not hurtful, not greedy of dishonest gain,

nor thieves nor covetous nor drunkards nor revilers nor extortioners shall inherit the kingdom of God.

in which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

I speak a human thing because of the weakness of our flesh: that as ye presented your members to serve uncleanness and iniquity unto iniquity, likewise now present your members to serve righteousness unto holiness. For being previously the slaves of sin, now ye have been made the slaves of righteousness.

(For many walk, of whom I have told you often and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ; whose end shall be perdition, whose God is their belly and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things).

If the Son therefore shall set you free, ye shall be free indeed.
