Charge them, that are rich in this world, not to be high-minded nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who richly affords us all things for enjoyment: charge them to do good,

And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast plenty of goods laid up for many years, take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night shall thy soul be required of thee; then whose shall those things be which thou hast provided? So is he that heapeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich towards God.
But when the young man heard that, he went away sorrowful; for he had large possessions.
But when he heard this, he was very sorrowful; for he was very rich.
But they, that will be rich, fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which plunge men into ruin and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evils, which some coveting after have been led astray from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
but the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and inordinate desires after other things entering in choke the word, and so it becometh unfruitful.
And that which fell among thorns, are those who when they have heard the word go away and are choked with the cares and riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to perfection.
because thou sayst, I am rich, and wealthy, and have want of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.
And he cried out and said, Father Abraham, have pity on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. And Abraham said, Son, remember that thou receivedst thy good things in thy life-time, and likewise Lazarus his evils: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. And besides, there is a great gulf fixed between us and you; so that they, who would pass from hence to you, cannot; nor can they pass to us, who would come from thence.read more.
Then he said, Therefore I intreat thee, Father, that thou wouldst send him to my father's house: for I have five brethren; that he may testify to them my misery, least they also come into this place of torment. Abraham answered him, They have Moses and the prophets, let them hear them: and he said, Nay, father Abraham, but if one went to them from the dead, they will repent. And he replied, If they hearken not to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one should rise from the dead.
Weep now, ye rich men, and howl for your miseries which are coming upon you. Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten: your gold and silver is cankered, and their rust shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh like fire: ye have been treasuring them up for these last days.read more.
Behold the hire of the laborers, that reaped your fields, of which they are defrauded by you, crieth out against you: and the complaints of the reapers are come into the ears of the Lord of hosts. Ye have lived upon earth delicately and luxuriously; ye fattened your hearts as in a day of slaughter. Ye have condemned, ye have murdered the just one, who resisted you not.
For we brought nothing into the world, and it is certain that we can carry nothing out:
And my God will supply all your wants, according to his riches, in glory, by Christ Jesus.

I know thy works and affliction and poverty (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of those that say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.
And Jesus answered and said, Verily I tell you, there is no one that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands for my sake and the gospel's, but he shall receive an hundred-fold: now in this time indeed, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands with persecutions; but in the world to come life everlasting.
Neither was there any indigent person among them; for as many as were proprietors of lands or houses, sold them and brought the prices of what were sold, and laid them at the apostles feet; and distribution was made to every one according to their necessity.
And indeed I have it all, and now abound: I am fully supplied, having received of Epaphroditus the things sent by you, a fragrant odor, an acceptable sacrifice, well-pleasing to God.
but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
They shall hunger no more, nor thirst any more, nor shall the sun nor any violent heat fall upon them. For the Lamb, that is in the midst of the throne, shall feed them, and shall lead them to fountains of living waters: and God will wipe off every tear from their eyes.
And he that received the seed among the thorns, is one that likewise heareth the word; but the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches choketh the word, and so it becometh unfruitful.
Sell what ye have, and give alms: provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a never-failing treasure in the heavens, where no thief approacheth nor moth corrupteth:
And behold, there came one to Him, and said, Good master, what good shall I do, that I may have eternal life? And He said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou desirest to enter into life, keep the commandments. He saith unto Him, Which? And Jesus answered, Thou shalt do no murther, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Honour thy father and mother;read more.
and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thy self. The young man saith unto Him, All these have I kept from my youth: wherein am I yet deficient? Jesus replied, If thou wouldst be perfect, go, sell thy estate, and give it to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come and follow me. But when the young man heard that, he went away sorrowful; for he had large possessions. Then said Jesus to his disciples, Verily I tell you, that a rich man shall with difficulty enter into the kingdom of heaven: and again I tell you, It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. His disciples, when they heard this, were exceedingly struck, and said, Who then can be saved? But Jesus looking upon them said unto them, With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust corrupts, and where thieves break through and steal:
For what is a man profited, if he gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give as a ransom for his soul?
for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
