and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down. And he said to him, "All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me." Then Jesus said to him, "Away, Satan! for it is written, 'You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.'" Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and ministered to him.

And an argument arose among them as to which of them would be the greatest. Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a little child and set him by him, and said to them, "Whoever receives this little child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me. For he who is least among you all is the one who is great."

For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?

You desire and do not have; so you kill. And you covet and cannot obtain; so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask.

And in his teaching he said, "Beware of the scribes, who like to go around in long robes, and to have salutations in the market places and the best seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at feasts, who devour widows' houses and for a pretense make long prayers. They will receive the greater condemnation."
