Then the devil left Him, and behold angels came and attended Him.
And immediately the Spirit taketh Him out into the wilderness: and He was there in the wilderness forty days tempted by Satan, and among the wild beasts: and angels ministred unto Him.
Now Jesus being full of the holy Spirit, returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, being forty days tempted by the devil; and He did eat nothing in all those days: and when they were ended, at last He was hungry. and avoid them; for such people serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by a soothing address and good words deceive the hearts of the innocent.
For when they speak swelling words of vanity, they ensnare in the lusts of the flesh, through their lasciviousness, those who had indeed withdrawn from such as deal in error;
For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transformed into apostles of Christ. And no wonder: for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. It is therefore no great thing, if his ministers also be transformed into ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
That we may be no longer children fluctuating and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the artful insinuations of men, and their crafty methods of deceiving;
Let no one deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
And this I say, least any one should deceive you with fine speeches.
