When many of his disciples heard this, they said, "This is a difficult statement. Who can accept it?" But Jesus, knowing within himself that his disciples were grumbling about this, asked them, "Does this offend you?
At this point, some of his disciples asked each other, "What does he mean by telling us, "In a little while you will no longer see me, then in a little while you will see me again,' and, "because I am going to the Father'?" They kept saying, "What is this "in a little while' that he keeps talking about? We don't know what he means." Jesus knew that they wanted to ask him a question, so he asked them, "Are you discussing among yourselves what I meant when I said, "In a little while you will no longer see me, then in a little while you will see me again'?
