Matthew 27:17-26

And when Pilate saw that he was accomplishing nothing, but rather an uproar was developing, after taking water, he washed his hands in front of the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this righteous man. Then he released Barabbas to them, and having scourged Jesus he delivered him so that he would be crucified.

Mark 15:9-15

And Pilate answered them, saying, Do ye wish that I would release to you the king of the Jews? For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him up because of envy. But the chief priests incited the crowd, so that he would release Barabbas to them instead. read more.

Therefore, having scourged I will release him. Now he had need to release one man to them at every feast. And he released the man who had been cast into prison because of insurrection and murder, whom they asked for, but he delivered Jesus to their will.

John 19:13-16

When Pilate therefore heard this word, he brought Jesus out, and sat down on the judgment seat at a place called The Pavement, but in Hebrew, Gabbatha. Now it was the Preparation of the Passover, and about the sixth hour. And he says to the Jews, Look at your king! But they cried out, Away, away, crucify him! Pilate says to them, Shall I crucify your king? The chief priests answered, We have no king except Caesar. read more.
