Mark 15:9-15

And he replied to them, Do you wish me to set free for you the King of the Jews? For he was aware that it was [ because they were prompted] by envy that the chief priests had delivered Him up. But the chief priests stirred up the crowd to get him to release for them Barabbas instead. read more.

And Pilate gave sentence, that what they asked should be done. So he released the man who had been thrown into prison for riot and murder, for whom they continued to ask, but Jesus he delivered up to be done with as they willed.

John 19:13-16

Hearing this, Pilate brought Jesus out and sat down on the judgment seat at a place called the Pavement [the Mosaic Pavement, the Stone Platform] -- "in Hebrew, Gabbatha. Now it was the day of Preparation for the Passover, and it was about the sixth hour (about twelve o'clock noon). He said to the Jews, See, [here is] your King! But they shouted, Away with Him!
