But when the evening was come, the lord of the vineyard says to his steward, Call the workmen and pay them their wages, beginning from the last even to the first. And when they who came to work about the eleventh hour came, they received each a denarius. And when the first came, they supposed that they would receive more, and they received also themselves each a denarius. And on receiving it they murmured against the master of the house, saying, These last have worked one hour, and thou hast made them equal to us, who have borne the burden of the day and the heat. But he answering said to one of them, My friend, I do not wrong thee. Didst thou not agree with me for a denarius? Take what is thine and go. But it is my will to give to this last even as to thee: is it not lawful for me to do what I will in my own affairs? Is thine eye evil because I am good? Thus shall the last be first, and the first last; for many are called ones, but few chosen ones.
And in the same house abide, eating and drinking such things as they have; for the workman is worthy of his hire. Remove not from house to house.
nor scrip for the way, nor two body coats, nor sandals, nor a staff: for the workman is worthy of his nourishment.

But if the bondman shall say distinctly, I love my master, my wife, and my children, I will not go free;
Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress, so our eyes are directed to Jehovah our God, until he be gracious unto us.
A wise servant shall rule over a son that causeth shame, and shall have part in the inheritance among the brethren.
As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to them that send him: for he refresheth the soul of his masters.
Whoso keepeth the fig-tree shall eat the fruit thereof; and he that guardeth his master shall be honoured.
Who then is the faithful and prudent bondman whom his lord has set over his household, to give them food in season?
Bondmen, obey masters according to flesh, with fear and trembling, in simplicity of your heart as to the Christ;
Bondmen, obey in all things your masters according to flesh; not with eye-services, as men-pleasers, but in simplicity of heart, fearing the Lord.
Let as many bondmen as are under yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and the teaching be not blasphemed.
Servants, be subject with all fear to your masters, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the ill-tempered.
