My point is this: The person who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the person who sows generously will also reap generously. Now God who provides seed for the sower and bread for food will provide and multiply your supply of seed and will cause the harvest of your righteousness to grow. The farmer who works hard ought to have the first share of the crops.

But he left behind some of the poor of the land and gave them fields and vineyards.

The sluggard will not plow during the planting season, so at harvest time he looks for the crop but has nothing.

Because of Israel's sins this is what the Lord, the God who commands armies, the sovereign One, says: "In all the squares there will be wailing, in all the streets they will mourn the dead. They will tell the field workers to lament and the professional mourners to wail.

The Lord God took the man and placed him in the orchard in Eden to care for it and to maintain it.

The land of Judah will be inhabited by people who live in its towns as well as by farmers and shepherds with their flocks.

But they were indifferent and went away, one to his farm, another to his business.

So be patient, brothers and sisters, until the Lord's return. Think of how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the ground and is patient for it until it receives the early and late rains.
