For in the first place, when ye come together in assembly of the church, I hear that there are divisions among you; and I partly believe it; for there must be also parties among you, that they who are approved may also become manifest among you.

But if any one hath caused grief, he hath caused it not to me alone, but in a measure, not to be too severe on him, to all of you. Sufficient for such a one is this punishment, which was inflicted by the many; so that on the contrary ye ought rather to forgive, and console him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.read more.
