And we know that all things are working together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose;
in order that now might be made known to the principalities and authorities in the heavenly places, through the assembly, the manifold wisdom of God, according to a purpose of the ages which He made in Christ Jesus our Lord,
Who saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose, and grace which was given us in Christ Jesus before eternal ages,
wherein God, more abundantly willing to show to the heirs of the promise the immutability of His counsel, interposed with an oath;
saying, "Father, if Thou art willing, remove this cup from Me; nevertheless, not My will, but Thine, be done."
And, going forward a little, He fell on His face, praying, and saying, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass away from Me: nevertheless not as I will, but as Thou wilt."
And He said, "Abba, Father, all things are possible to Thee; take away this cup from Me; yet not what I will, but what Thou wilt."
And, when he would not be persuaded, we were silent, saying, "The will of the Lord be done."
but, taking leave of them, and saying, "I will return to you again, God willing," he sailed from Ephesus;
making request, if by any means now at length, I may be prospered by the will of God to come to you.
Come now, ye who say, "To-day or to-morrow we will go into this city, and spend one year there, and trade, and get gain," (ye who, indeed, know nothing of to-morrow! what is your life? for ye are a vapor that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away); instead of your saying, "If the Lord will, we shall both live, and do this or that."
This Man, delivered up by the settled counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye, having fastened to the cross, through the hand of lawless ones, did slay:
For David, indeed, having served his own generation according to the will of God, fell asleep, and was added to his fathers, and saw corruption;
(for, the children being not yet born, nor having done anything good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of Him Who calleth), it was said to her, "The elder shall serve the younger."
For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, "For this very purpose did I raise you up, that I might show forth My power in you, and that my name might be published abroad in all the earth."
"And you also, child, shall be called 'Prophet of the Most High;' for you shall go before the face of the Lord, to prepare His ways; to give knowledge of salvation to His people in remission of their sins, because of the tender compassions of the mercy of our God, wherein the day-spring from on high shall visit us,read more.
to shine upon those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace."
because the Lamb, Who is in the midst of the throne, will be their Shepherd, and will guide them to the fountains of the waters of life; and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.
