Paul waited for them at Athens. His spirit was irritated within him when he saw the city full of idols.
The God that made the world and all things in it is the Lord of heaven and earth. He does not live in temples made with hands.

What is an idol worth after the carver is done? It is merely a false god. Why trust a speechless image made by human hands from wood or metal?
Every man is stupid lacking knowledge. Every goldsmith is put to shame by his idols. His molten images are deceitful. There is no breath in them.
You know that you were of the nations, carried away and led by mute idols.
All who make idols are nothing. The things they treasure are worthless. Those who would speak up for them are blind. They are shamefully ignorant.
Jacob said to his family and those who were with him: Get rid of the foreign gods that you have. Wash yourselves until you are ritually clean. Change your clothes.
I warn you: 'If you forget Jehovah your God and worship other gods, you will perish.'
Tear down their altars and smash their sacred pillars. Burn their Asherah poles with fire. Cut down the carved images of their gods and obliterate their name from that place.
If you do not obey the covenant Jehovah your God commanded you to obey and if you serve and worship other gods, then in his anger he will punish you. Soon none of you will be left in this good land that he gave you.
