There is one that scatters, and yet increases; and there is one that withholds more than is right, but it leads to poverty.
There is a great evil which I have seen under the sun, namely, riches kept by their owners to their hurt.
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which plunge men into destruction and perdition. Jesus said unto him, If you will be perfect, go and sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
Sell what you have, and give alms; provide yourselves purses which grow not old, a treasure in the heavens that fails not, where no thief approaches, neither moth corrupts.
He that withholds grain, the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be upon the head of him that sells it.
Though he heap up silver as the dust, and pile up clothing as the clay; He may prepare it, but the just shall put it on, and the innocent shall divide the silver.
Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do it.
Come now, you rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you. Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten. Your gold and silver is rusted; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as if it were fire. You have heaped treasure together for the last days.
