Last of all he sent to them his Son, saying, They will reverence my Son. But the husbandmen seeing the Son, said among themselves, This is the heir; come let us kill him and seize on his inheritance. And taking him, they cast him out of the vineyard and slew him.
Having yet therefore one son his well-beloved, he sent him also last to them, saying, They will reverence my son. But those husbandmen said among themselves, This is the heir: come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours. And they took him and killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard.
Then said the Lord of the vineyard, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son; perhaps seeing him they will reverence him. But the husbandmen seeing him, reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir: Come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours. So they cast him out of the vineyard and killed him. What therefore will the Lord of the vineyard do to them?
And Jesus came and spake to them, saying, All power is given me in heaven and in earth.
He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country, to receive for himself a kingdom and to return.
Being made so much higher than the angels, as he hath by inheritance a more excellent name than they. For to which of the angels did he ever say, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son? And again, When he bringeth in the first begotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.
And if children, then heirs, heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ: if we suffer with him, that we may also be glorified with him.
That the Gentiles are fellow-heirs, and of the same body, and joint-partakers of his promise by Christ through the gospel,
Wherefore God being willing to shew more abundantly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeableness of his counsel, interposed by an oath:
And for this end he is the Mediator of a new covenant, that by means of death for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first covenant, they who are called might receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.
For if the inheritance be by the law, it is no more by promise; but God gave it to Abraham by promise.
And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, who is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among them that are sanctified.
Giving thanks unto the Father, who hath made us meet to partake of the inheritance of the saints in light.
And if ye are Christ's, then are ye the seed of Abraham, and heirs according to the promise.
For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham or to his seed by the law, but by the righteousness of faith. For if they who are of the law are heirs, faith is made void, and the promise of no effect. Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.read more.
Therefore it is of faith, that it might be of grace, that the promise might be firm to all the seed; not only to that which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all, (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations) before God in whom he believed, as quickning the dead, and calling the things that are not, as though they were:
By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his houshold, by which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. By faith Abraham, being called to go out into the place which he was to receive for an inheritance, obeyed and went out, not knowing whither he went. By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the joint heirs of the same promise.read more.
