Then David sent home to Tamar, saying, Go now to thy brother Amnon's house and make him something to eat. So Tamar went to her brother Amnon's house, and he was lying down. And she took flour and kneaded it and made cakes in his sight and baked the cakes. Then she took a pan and poured them out before him, but he refused to eat. And Amnon said, Send everyone out from me. And they all went out from him. Then Amnon said unto Tamar, Bring the food into the chamber that I may eat from thy hand. And Tamar took the cakes which she had made and brought them into the chamber to Amnon, her brother. And when she had brought them unto him to eat, he took hold of her and said unto her, Come lie with me, my sister. And she answered him, No, my brother, do not force me, for no such thing ought to be done in Israel. Do not commit this folly. And I, where shall I go with my reproach? And as for thee, thou shalt be as one of the fools in Israel. Now, therefore, I pray thee, speak unto the king, for he will not withhold me from thee. Howbeit, he would not hearken unto her voice, but, being stronger than she, forced her and lay with her. Then Amnon hated her exceedingly so that the hatred with which he hated her was greater than the love with which he had loved her. And Amnon said unto her, Arise, be gone. And she said unto him, There is no cause; this evil in sending me away is greater than the other that thou didst unto me. But he would not hearken unto her. Then he called his servant that ministered unto him and said, Put now this woman out from me and bolt the door after her. And she had a garment of different colours upon her, for with such robes were the king's daughters that were virgins apparelled. Then his servant brought her out and bolted the door after her. And Tamar put ashes on her head and rent her garment of different colours that was on her and laid her hand on her head and went on crying.

And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the sons of Israel and say unto them, When someone shall make a special vow unto the LORD, according to the estimation of the persons that are to be redeemed, thus shall be thy estimation: Regarding the male from twenty years old even unto sixty years old, thy estimation shall be fifty shekels of silver, according to the shekel of the sanctuary.read more.

And if it is from five years old even unto twenty years old, then thy estimation shall be of the male twenty shekels, and for the female ten shekels. And if it is from sixty years old and above, if it is a male, then thy estimation shall be fifteen shekels, and for the female ten shekels.

This shall be my covenant, which ye shall keep between me and you and thy seed after thee: Every male among you shall be circumcised. And the priest shall charge her by an oath and say unto the woman, If no man has lain with thee, and if thou hast not gone astray from thy husband to uncleanness, thou shalt be clean from this bitter water that brings the curse. But if thou hast gone astray from thy husband and hast defiled thyself and some man has placed seed in thee other than thine husband, (the priest shall charge the woman with an oath of cursing) and the priest shall say unto the woman, Let the LORD make thee a curse and an oath among thy people when the LORD makes thy thigh to fail and thy belly to swell, and this water that causes the curse shall go into thy bowels and cause thy belly to swell and thy thigh to fail. And the woman shall say, Amen, amen. And the priest shall write these curses in a book, and he shall blot them out with the bitter water; and he shall cause the woman to drink the bitter water that brings the curse, and the water that brings the curse shall enter into her as bitter. Then the priest shall take the present of jealousy out of the woman's hand and shall wave the offering before the LORD and offer it before the altar. And the priest shall take a handful of the present, in memory of her, and incense it upon the altar and afterward shall cause the woman to drink the water. He shall give her, therefore, the water to drink, and it shall come to pass, that if she is defiled and has betrayed her husband, that the water that works the curse shall enter into her in bitterness, and her belly shall swell, and her thigh shall fail; and that woman shall be a curse among her people. But if the woman is not defiled, but is clean; then she shall be free and shall conceive seed. This is the law of jealousies when a woman goes astray, being under the power of her husband, and is defiled; or of the husband upon whom a spirit of jealousy comes, and he is jealous over his wife; he shall then present the woman before the LORD, and the priest shall execute in her all this law. And that man shall be free from iniquity, and the woman shall bear her iniquity.

The LORD spoke further unto Aaron, Behold, I also have given thee the charge of my offerings; all the dedicated things of the sons of Israel I have given unto thee by reason of the anointing, and to thy sons, by a perpetual statute. And if they become married to any of the sons of the other tribes of the sons of Israel, then their inheritance shall be taken from the inheritance of our fathers and shall be put to the inheritance of the tribe unto which they are received; so shall it be taken from the lot of our inheritance.read more.

And any daughter, that possesses an inheritance in any tribe of the sons of Israel, shall marry one of the family of the tribe of her father so that each man of the sons of Israel may possess the inheritance of his fathers. So that the inheritance shall not change from one tribe to another tribe, each one of the tribes of the sons of Israel shall cleave to his own inheritance. As the LORD commanded Moses, so did the daughters of Zelophehad. And thus Mahlah, Tirzah, Hoglah, Milcah and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad, married the sons of their uncles. They were women of the family of the sons of Manasseh, the son of Joseph, and their inheritance remained in the tribe of the family of their father.

When any man takes a wife and after having gone in unto her, hates her and gives occasions of speech against her and brings up an evil name upon her and says, I took this woman, and when I came to her, I found her not a virgin, then shall the father of the damsel and her mother take and bring forth the tokens of the damsel's virginity unto the elders of the city in the gate.read more.

Let your women keep silence in the congregations , for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be in subjection, as also saith the law. And if they desire to learn anything, let them ask their husbands at home, for it is a dishonest thing for women to speak in the congregation .

But I would have you know that the head of every man is the Christ, and the head of the woman is the man, and the head of Christ is God. Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonours his head. But every woman that prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonours her head, for that is even the same as if she were shaven.read more.

So ought husbands to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loves his wife loves himself.
