"I opened to my beloved, But my beloved had turned away and had gone! My heart went out to him as he spoke I searched for him but I did not find him; I called him but he did not answer me.
"For he has not arranged his words against me, Nor will I reply to him with your arguments.
But He did not answer her a word. And His disciples came and implored Him, saying, "Send her away, because she keeps shouting at us."
But He kept silent and did not answer Again the high priest was questioning Him, and saying to Him, "Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?"
Then Pilate questioned Him again, saying, "Do You not answer? See how many charges they bring against You!"
And they could make no reply to this.
"You shall speak all these words to them, but they will not listen to you; and you shall call to them, but they will not answer you.
"Why was there no man when I came? When I called, why was there none to answer? Is My hand so short that it cannot ransom? Or have I no power to deliver? Behold, I dry up the sea with My rebuke, I make the rivers a wilderness; Their fish stink for lack of water And die of thirst.
"And now, because you have done all these things," declares the LORD, "and I spoke to you, rising up early and speaking, but you did not hear, and I called you but you did not answer,
I will destine you for the sword, And all of you will bow down to the slaughter Because I called, but you did not answer; I spoke, but you did not hear. And you did evil in My sight And chose that in which I did not delight."
So I will choose their punishments And will bring on them what they dread Because I called, but no one answered; I spoke, but they did not listen And they did evil in My sight And chose that in which I did not delight."
"Therefore thus says the LORD, the God of hosts, the God of Israel, 'Behold, I am bringing on Judah and on all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the disaster that I have pronounced against them; because I spoke to them but they did not listen, and I have called them but they did not answer.'"
Then they took the ox which was given them and they prepared it and called on the name of Baal from morning until noon saying, "O Baal, answer us." But there was no voice and no one answered. And they leaped about the altar which they made.
"They lift it upon the shoulder and carry it; They set it in its place and it stands there It does not move from its place Though one may cry to it, it cannot answer; It cannot deliver him from his distress.
