Now, brothers, I would have you know the gospel I once preached to you, the gospel you received, the gospel in which you have your footing,

Yes, and I will see to it that even when I am gone, you will keep this constantly in mind. For it was no fabricated fables that we followed when we reported to you the power and advent of our Lord Jesus Christ; we were admitted to the spectacle of his sovereignty,

As it is, they are an annual reminder of sins (for the blood of bulls and goats cannot possibly remove sins!).

Consider both the kindness and the severity of God; those who fall come under his severity, but you come under the divine kindness, provided you adhere to that kindness. Otherwise, you will be cut away too.

To ensure this, I am sending you Timotheus, my beloved and trustworthy son in the Lord; he will remind you of those methods in Christ Jesus which I teach everywhere in every church.

Remind them to be submissive to their rulers and authorities; they must obey, they must be ready for any good work, they must abuse no one, they must not quarrel, but be conciliatory and display perfect gentleness to all men.
