And they ran both together; and the other disciple outran Peter, and came first to the tomb.

And Jesus seeing that the multitude came running together, rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, Dumb and deaf spirit, I command thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.

And he said to the disciples, The days will come, when ye will desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and will not see it. And they will say to you, Lo there! lo here! Go not away, and follow not.

And I went up by revelation, and communicated to them that gospel which I preach among the gentiles; but privately to those who were of reputation, lest by any means I should run, or had run, in vain.

But I count life of no value to me, so that I may finish my course, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify the glad tidings of the grace of God.

Ye were running well; who hindered you, that ye should not obey the truth?

Do all things without murmurings and doubts; that ye may be blameless and pure, children of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation; among whom ye shine as luminaries in the world, holding forth the word of life, that I may have whereof to boast against the day of Christ, that I did not run in vain, or labor in vain.

For I am already about to be offered as a sacrifice, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me at that day, and not to me only, but to all those who have loved his appearing.

Therefore let us also, being surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth easily beset us, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us;
