This is the day which the LORD has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
Thou shalt remember the sabbath day, to sanctify it. Six days shalt thou labour and do all thy work; but the seventh day shall be the sabbath of the LORD thy God; in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manslave, nor thy maidslave, nor thy beast, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates;read more.
for in six days the LORD made the heavens and earth, the sea, and all that is in them and rested the seventh day; therefore, the LORD blessed the sabbath day and sanctified it.
And on the seventh day God finished his work which he had made, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

In those days I saw in Judah some treading wine presses on the sabbath and bringing in sheaves and lading asses with wine, grapes, figs, and all manner of burdens, which they brought into Jerusalem on the sabbath day; and I protested unto them the day in which they sold the food. There dwelt men of Tyre also therein, who brought fish and all manner of merchandise, and sold on the sabbath to the sons of Judah in Jerusalem. Then I contended with the nobles of Judah and said unto them, What evil thing is this that ye do and profane thus the sabbath day?read more.
Did not your fathers do this, and did not our God bring all this evil upon us and upon this city? Yet ye bring more wrath upon Israel by profaning the sabbath.
Likewise that if the peoples of the land bring merchandise or any food on the sabbath day to sell, that we would not take anything from them on the sabbath or on the holy day, and that we would leave the seventh year and remit every debt.
Thus hath the LORD said: Take heed for your lives, and bring no burden on the sabbath day to bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem;
Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you; those that defile it shall surely be put to death; for whoever does any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.
And the LORD said unto Moses, The man shall be surely put to death; all the congregation shall stone him with stones outside the camp.
But if ye will not hearken unto me to sanctify the sabbath day, and not to bring burdens nor bring it in through the gates of Jerusalem on the sabbath day; then I will kindle a fire in the gates thereof, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem, and it shall not be quenched.
But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they did not walk in my statutes, and they despised my rights, by which the man that does them shall live by them; and my sabbaths they greatly polluted; therefore I said, I would pour out my fury upon them in the wilderness to consume them.
Every sabbath he shall set it in order before the LORD continually: an everlasting covenant of the sons of Israel.
And other of their brethren, of the sons of the Kohathites, were over the showbread, to order it every sabbath.
But on the sabbath day two lambs of the first year without spot and two tenth deals of flour mingled with oil, for a present, with the drink offering thereof: This is the burnt offering of the sabbath, besides the continual burnt offering and its drink offering.
and to offer all burnt sacrifices unto the LORD in the sabbaths, in the new moons and solemnities, by number, according to the order commanded unto them, continually before the LORD.
Behold, I must build a house unto the name of the LORD my God, to dedicate it to him and to burn aromatic incense before him and for the continual showbread and for the burnt offerings morning and evening on the sabbaths and on the new moons and on the solemn feasts of the LORD our God, which is to be perpetual in Israel.
And the burnt offering that the prince shall offer unto the LORD in the day of the sabbath shall be six lambs without blemish, and a ram without blemish.
