Then they sent some Pharisees and Herodians to Him to trap Him in argument.
Then Jesus said to him, "Judas, will you betray the Son of Man with a kiss?"
But men who keep planning to get rich fall into temptations and snares and many foolish, hurtful desires which plunge people into destruction and ruin.
So the colonel took him by the arm, stepped to one side so as to be alone, and asked him, "What is it you have to tell me?" He answered, "The Jews have agreed to ask you to bring Paul down to the council tomorrow, as though you were going to examine his case more carefully. But do not yield to them, for more than forty of them are lying in wait for him; they have taken an oath not to eat or drink till they have killed him. They are all ready now, just waiting for your promise."

But Jesus saw their malicious plot, and so asked, "Why are you testing me so, you hypocrites?
Should we pay it, or should we not?" Now because He saw their pretense, He said to them, "Why are you testing me so? Bring me a twenty-cent coin to look at."
And while they were eating, He said, "I solemnly say to you, one of you is going to betray me."
Then the Pharisees went out and held a consultation with the Herodians against Him, to put Him to death.
So they could not use what he said before the people, and in astonishment at His answer they said no more.
They were asking this to trap him so that they might have something to accuse him of. But Jesus stooped and began to write in the dirt with his finger.
So Judas got together the Roman garrison and some attendants from the high priests and Pharisees, and went there with lanterns and torches and weapons. Then Jesus, as He knew everything that was going to befall Him, came forward and asked them, "Who is it that you are looking for?"
And so when there was a movement on the part of both the heathen and the Jews, along with their authorities, to insult and stone them,
where he stayed three months. Just as he was about to sail for Syria, he changed his mind and returned by way of Macedonia, because a plot against him had been laid by the Jews.
so that we may not be babies any longer, or like sailors tossed about and driven around by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men through their cunning in inventing new methods of error.
