20 Bible Verses about Works Of The Law
Most Relevant Verses
For Moses writes about the righteousness which is of the law, "The man who does those things shall live by them."
But the Law is not of faith; on the contrary, "He who does them shall live by them."
For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous in the sight of God, but the doers of the law who will be justified.
Why? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as if it were by works. They have stumbled over the stumbling stone,
For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God.
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not of yourselves, it is the gift of God not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.
he saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but because of his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal in the Holy Spirit,
who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and the grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity,
Therefore no flesh will be justified in his sight by works of the law, for through the law comes knowledge of sin.
yet who know that a man is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith in Christ, and not by works of the law, because by works of the law will no flesh be justified.
For we hold that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the law.
And to one who does not work but trusts him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is reckoned as righteousness.
So also David describes the blessedness of the man to whom God reckons righteousness apart from works:
For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who does not abide by all things written in the book of the law, to do them."
for anyone who enters God's rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from his.
Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
though the twins were not yet born and had done nothing either good or bad, in order that God's purpose of election might stand, not because of works but because of his call, she was told, "The older will serve the younger."
This is the only thing I want to find out from you: did you receive the Spirit by the works of the Law, or by hearing with faith?
And if it is by grace, then it is no longer on the basis of works; otherwise, grace would no longer be grace.
