For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not of yourselves, it is the gift of God not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous in the sight of God, but the doers of the law who will be justified.
For God is not so unjust as to forget your work and the love which you have shown for his sake in serving the saints, as you still do. And we desire each one of you to show the same diligence in realizing the full assurance of hope until the end, so that you may not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

But are you willing to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is useless? Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up Isaac his son on the altar? You see that faith was working with his works, and faith was completed by works, and the scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness", and he was called the friend of God. You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone. In the same way was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works, when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way? For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.

Show yourself in all respects an example of good deeds, and in your teaching show integrity, seriousness, and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing bad to say about us.
