'Desire' in the Bible
Indeed, while following the way of Your judgments, O Lord,We have waited for You eagerly;Your name, even Your memory, is the desire of our souls.
“It is I who says of Cyrus, ‘He is My shepherd! And he will perform all My desire.’And he declares of Jerusalem, ‘She will be built,’And of the temple, ‘Your foundation will be laid.’”
So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty,Without accomplishing what I desire,And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.
‘Why have we fasted and You do not see?Why have we humbled ourselves and You do not notice?’Behold, on the day of your fast you find your desire,And drive hard all your workers.
And if you give yourself to the hungryAnd satisfy the desire of the afflicted,Then your light will rise in darknessAnd your gloom will become like midday.
“And the Lord will continually guide you,And satisfy your desire in scorched places,And give strength to your bones; And you will be like a watered garden,And like a spring of water whose waters do not fail.
