'Difficult' in the Bible
How narrow is the gate and difficult the road that leads to life, and few find it.
For this nation’s heart has grown hard,And with their ears they hardly hear,And they have [tightly] closed their eyes,Otherwise they would see with their eyes,And hear with their ears,And understand with their heart, and turn [to Me]And I would heal them [spiritually].’
Jesus said to His disciples, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, it is difficult for a rich man [who clings to possessions and status as security] to enter the kingdom of heaven.
“Then the man who had received one talent also approached and said, ‘Master, I know you. You’re a difficult man, reaping where you haven’t sown and gathering where you haven’t scattered seed.
And Jesus looked around [and] said to his disciples, "How {difficult it is for} those who possess wealth to enter into the kingdom of God!"
And the disciples were amazed at his words. And Jesus again answering says to them, Children, how difficult it is that those who trust in riches should enter into the kingdom of God!
But Jesus replied, "Woe to you experts in religious law as well! You load people down with burdens difficult to bear, yet you yourselves refuse to touch the burdens with even one of your fingers!
Jesus looked at him and said, “How difficult it is for those who are wealthy to enter the kingdom of God!
When many of his disciples heard this, they said, "This is a difficult statement. Who can accept it?"
But if you marry, you have not sinned. And if a virgin marries, she has not sinned. But those who marry will face difficult circumstances, and I am trying to spare you such problems.
For [this is] not that for others [there may be] relief, [and] for you difficult circumstances, but [as a matter] of equality.
But know this: Difficult times will come in the last days.
We have a great deal to say about this, and it’s difficult to explain, since you have become too lazy to understand.
And if it is difficult even for a righteous man to be saved, what will become of irreligious men and sinners?
speaking about these things as he does in all of his letters. In which there are some things that are difficult to understand, which the untaught and unstable [who have fallen into error] twist and misinterpret, just as they do the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.
For this demonstrates our love for God: We keep his commandments, and his commandments are not difficult,
