'Done' in the Bible

As he was talking with him, the king said to him, “Have we appointed you a royal counselor? Stop! Why should you be struck down?” Then the prophet stopped and said, “I know that God has planned to destroy you, because you have done this and have not listened to my counsel.”

He did right in the sight of the Lord according to all that his father Amaziah had done.

So Haman came in and the king said to him, “What is to be done for the man whom the king desires to honor?” And Haman said to himself, “Whom would the king desire to honor more than me?”

and let the robe and the horse be handed over to one of the king’s most noble princes and let them array the man whom the king desires to honor and lead him on horseback through the city square, and proclaim before him, ‘Thus it shall be done to the man whom the king desires to honor.’”

So Haman took the robe and the horse, and arrayed Mordecai, and led him on horseback through the city square, and proclaimed before him, “Thus it shall be done to the man whom the king desires to honor.”

And the king said to Esther on the second day also as they drank their wine at the banquet, “What is your petition, Queen Esther? It shall be granted you. And what is your request? Even to half of the kingdom it shall be done.”

The king said to Queen Esther, “The Jews have killed and destroyed five hundred men and the ten sons of Haman at the citadel in Susa. What then have they done in the rest of the king’s provinces! Now what is your petition? It shall even be granted you. And what is your further request? It shall also be done.”

So the king commanded that it should be done so; and an edict was issued in Susa, and Haman’s ten sons were hanged.

This was done on the thirteenth day of the month Adar, and on the fourteenth day they rested and made it a day of feasting and rejoicing.

“Have I sinned? What have I done to You,O watcher of men?Why have You set me as Your target,So that I am a burden to myself?

“Who among all these does not knowThat the hand of the Lord has done this,

“Who will confront him with his actions,And who will repay him for what he has done?

Teach me what I do not see;If I have done iniquity,I will not do it again’?

“Who has appointed Him His way,And who has said, ‘You have done wrong’?

O Lord my God, if I have done this,If there is injustice in my hands,

“I have become mute, I do not open my mouth,Because it is You who have done it.

Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders which You have done,And Your thoughts toward us;There is none to compare with You.If I would declare and speak of them,They would be too numerous to count.

“These things you have done and I kept silence;You thought that I was just like you;I will reprove you and state the case in order before your eyes.

Against You, You only, I have sinnedAnd done what is evil in Your sight,So that You are justified when You speakAnd blameless when You judge.

I will give You thanks forever, because You have done it,And I will wait on Your name, for it is good, in the presence of Your godly ones.

Then all men will fear,And they will declare the work of God,And will consider what He has done.

Come and hear, all who fear God,And I will tell of what He has done for my soul.

For Your righteousness, O God, reaches to the heavens,You who have done great things;O God, who is like You?

We will not conceal them from their children,But tell to the generation to come the praises of the Lord,And His strength and His wondrous works that He has done.

So I turned to consider wisdom, madness and folly; for what will the man do who will come after the king except what has already been done?

So I hated life, for the work which had been done under the sun was grievous to me; because everything is futility and striving after wind.

He has made everything appropriate in its time. He has also set eternity in their heart, yet so that man will not find out the work which God has done from the beginning even to the end.

Then I looked again at all the acts of oppression which were being done under the sun. And behold I saw the tears of the oppressed and that they had no one to comfort them; and on the side of their oppressors was power, but they had no one to comfort them.

But better off than both of them is the one who has never existed, who has never seen the evil activity that is done under the sun.

I have seen that every labor and every skill which is done is the result of rivalry between a man and his neighbor. This too is vanity and striving after wind.

All this I have seen and applied my mind to every deed that has been done under the sun wherein a man has exercised authority over another man to his hurt.

There is futility which is done on the earth, that is, there are righteous men to whom it happens according to the deeds of the wicked. On the other hand, there are evil men to whom it happens according to the deeds of the righteous. I say that this too is futility.

When I gave my heart to know wisdom and to see the task which has been done on the earth (even though one should never sleep day or night),

and I saw every work of God, I concluded that man cannot discover the work which has been done under the sun. Even though man should seek laboriously, he will not discover; and though the wise man should say, “I know,” he cannot discover.

This is an evil in all that is done under the sun, that there is one fate for all men. Furthermore, the hearts of the sons of men are full of evil and insanity is in their hearts throughout their lives. Afterwards they go to the dead.

Indeed their love, their hate and their zeal have already perished, and they will no longer have a share in all that is done under the sun.

“What more was there to do for My vineyard that I have not done in it?Why, when I expected it to produce good grapes did it produce worthless ones?

Shall I not do to Jerusalem and her imagesJust as I have done to Samaria and her idols?”

Praise the Lord in song, for He has done excellent things;Let this be known throughout the earth.

Woe to those who deeply hide their plans from the Lord,And whose deeds are done in a dark place,And they say, “Who sees us?” or “Who knows us?”

“You who are far away, hear what I have done;And you who are near, acknowledge My might.”

Behold, you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the lands, destroying them completely. So will you be spared?

I thought, ‘After she has done all these things she will return to Me’; but she did not return, and her treacherous sister Judah saw it.

“The prophets are as wind,And the word is not in them.Thus it will be done to them!”
