'Matter' in the Bible
But if he do not hear thee, take with thee one or two besides, that every matter may stand upon the word of two witnesses or of three.
Again I say to you, that if two of you shall agree on the earth concerning any matter, whatsoever it may be that they shall ask, it shall come to them from my Father who is in the heavens.
But he, having gone forth, began to proclaim it much, and to spread the matter abroad, so that he could no longer enter openly into the city, but was without in desert places, and they came to him from every side.
Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter, for thy heart is not upright before God.
But Peter began and set forth the matter to them in order, saying,
And the apostles and the elders were gathered together to see about this matter.
If therefore Demetrius and the artisans who are with him have a matter against any one, the courts are being held, and there are proconsuls: let them accuse one another.

But no chastening at the time seems to be matter of joy, but of grief; but afterwards yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those exercised by it.
