'Please' in the Bible
But one after another they all began to make excuses. The first said to him, 'I have bought a field, and I must go out and see it. Please excuse me.'
Another said, 'I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going out to examine them. Please excuse me.'
And the one who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone, because I always do those things that please him."
Then the eunuch said to Philip, "Please tell me, who is the prophet saying this about -- himself or someone else?"
Paul answered, "I am a Jew from Tarsus in Cilicia, a citizen of an important city. Please allow me to speak to the people."
Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
But we who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak, and not just please ourselves.
Let each of us please his neighbor for his good to build him up.
For even Christ did not please himself, but just as it is written, "The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me."
And I want you to be free from concern. An unmarried man is concerned about the things of the Lord, how to please the Lord.
But a married man is concerned about the things of the world, how to please his wife,
and he is divided. An unmarried woman or a virgin is concerned about the things of the Lord, to be holy both in body and spirit. But a married woman is concerned about the things of the world, how to please her husband.
just as I also try to please everyone in all things. I do not seek my own benefit, but the benefit of many, so that they may be saved.
With regard to the collection for the saints, please follow the directions that I gave to the churches of Galatia:
So then whether we are alive or away, we make it our ambition to please him.
Am I now trying to gain the approval of people, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a slave of Christ!
so that you may live worthily of the Lord and please him in all respects -- bearing fruit in every good deed, growing in the knowledge of God,

No one in military service gets entangled in matters of everyday life; otherwise he will not please the one who recruited him.
Now without faith it is impossible to please him, for the one who approaches God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
