'Us' in the Bible

shall we again break thy commandments, and join in affinity with the peoples that do these abominations? wouldest not thou be angry with us till thou hadst consumed us, so that there should be no remnant, nor any to escape?

Now therefore let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the wives, and such as are born of them, according to the counsel of my lord, and of those that tremble at the commandment of our God; and let it be done according to the law.

Then all the assembly answered and said with a loud voice, As thou hast said concerning us, so must we do.

Let now our princes be appointed for all the assembly, and let all them that are in our cities that have married foreign women come at appointed times, and with them the elders of every city, and the judges thereof, until the fierce wrath of our God be turned from us, until this matter be despatched.

Then said I unto them, Ye see the evil case that we are in, how Jerusalem lieth waste, and the gates thereof are burned with fire: come, and let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we be no more a reproach.

And I told them of the hand of my God which was good upon me, as also of the king's words that he had spoken unto me. And they said, Let us rise up and build. So they strengthened their hands for the good work .

But when Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, and Geshem the Arabian, heard it, they laughed us to scorn, and despised us, and said, What is this thing that ye do? will ye rebel against the king?

Then answered I them, and said unto them, The God of heaven, he will prosper us; therefore we his servants will arise and build: but ye have no portion, nor right, nor memorial, in Jerusalem.

And it came to pass that, when the Jews that dwelt by them came, they said unto us ten times from all places, Ye must return unto us.

And it came to pass, when our enemies heard that it was known unto us, and God had brought their counsel to nought, that we returned all of us to the wall, every one unto his work.

in what place soever ye hear the sound of the trumpet, resort ye thither unto us; our God will fight for us.

Likewise at the same time said I unto the people, Let every one with his servant lodge within Jerusalem, that in the night they may be a guard to us, and may labor in the day.

So neither I, nor my brethren, nor my servants, nor the men of the guard that followed me, none of us put off our clothes, every one went with his weapon to the water.

For there were that said, We, our sons and our daughters, are many: let us get grain, that we may eat and live.

Some also there were that said, We are mortgaging our fields, and our vineyards, and our houses: let us get grain, because of the dearth.

And I said unto them, We after our ability have redeemed our brethren the Jews, that were sold unto the nations; and would ye even sell your brethren, and should they be sold unto us? Then held they their peace, and found never a word.

And I likewise, my brethren and my servants, do lend them money and grain. I pray you, let us leave off this usury.

Moreover there were at my table, of the Jews and the rulers, a hundred and fifty men, besides those that came unto us from among the nations that were round about us.

that Sanballat and Geshem sent unto me, saying, Come, let us meet together in one of the villages in the plain of Ono. But they thought to do me mischief.

And thou hast also appointed prophets to preach of thee at Jerusalem, saying, There is a king in Judah: and now shall it be reported to the king according to these words. Come now therefore, and let us take counsel together.

For they all would have made us afraid, saying, Their hands shall be weakened from the work, that it be not done. But now, O God , strengthen thou my hands.

And I went unto the house of Shemaiah the son of Delaiah the son of Mehetabel, who was shut up; and he said, Let us meet together in the house of God, within the temple, and let us shut the doors of the temple: for they will come to slay thee; yea, in the night will they come to slay thee.

And it came to pass, when all our enemies heard thereof , that all the nations that were about us feared, and were much cast down in their own eyes; for they perceived that this work was wrought of our God.

Now therefore, our God, the great, the mighty, and the terrible God, who keepest covenant and lovingkindness, let not all the travail seem little before thee, that hath come upon us, on our kings, on our princes, and on our priests, and on our prophets, and on our fathers, and on all thy people, since the time of the kings of Assyria unto this day.

Howbeit thou art just in all that is come upon us; for thou hast dealt truly, but we have done wickedly;

And it yieldeth much increase unto the kings whom thou hast set over us because of our sins: also they have power over our bodies, and over our cattle, at their pleasure, and we are in great distress.

Also we made ordinances for us, to charge ourselves yearly with the third part of a shekel for the service of the house of our God;

Did not your fathers thus, and did not our God bring all this evil upon us, and upon this city? yet ye bring more wrath upon Israel by profaning the sabbath.

There is no umpire betwixt us, That might lay his hand upon us both.

What knowest thou, that we know not? What understandest thou, which is not in us?

With us are both the gray-headed and the very aged men, Much elder than thy father.

And they say unto God, Depart from us; For we desire not the knowledge of thy ways.

Who said unto God, Depart from us; And, What can the Almighty do for us?

Saying , Surely they that did rise up against us are cut off, And the remnant of them the fire hath consumed.

Let us choose for us that which is right: Let us know among ourselves what is good.

For he addeth rebellion unto his sin; He clappeth his hands among us, And multiplieth his words against God.

Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, And maketh us wiser than the birds of the heavens?

Teach us what we shall say unto him; For we cannot set our speech in order by reason of darkness.

Let us break their bonds asunder, And cast away their cords from us.

Many there are that say, Who will show us any good? Jehovah, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.

Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; Our lips are our own: who is lord over us?

They have now compassed us in our steps; They set their eyes to cast us down to the earth.

Let thy lovingkindness, O Jehovah, be upon us, According as we have hoped in thee.

We have heard with our ears, O God, Our fathers have told us, What work thou didst in their days, In the days of old.

Through thee will we push down our adversaries: Through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us.

But thou hast saved us from our adversaries, And hast put them to shame that hate us.

But now thou hast cast us off, and brought us to dishonor, And goest not forth with our hosts.

Thou makest us to turn back from the adversary; And they that hate us take spoil for themselves.

Thou hast made us like sheep appointed for food, And hast scattered us among the nations.

Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbors, A scoffing and a derision to them that are round about us.

Thou makest us a byword among the nations, A shaking of the head among the peoples.

All this is come upon us; Yet have we not forgotten thee, Neither have we dealt falsely in thy covenant.

That thou hast sore broken us in the place of jackals, And covered us with the shadow of death.

Awake, why sleepest thou, O Lord? Arise, cast us not off for ever.

Rise up for our help, And redeem us for thy lovingkindness'sake.

Jehovah of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah

He subdueth peoples under us, And nations under our feet.

He chooseth our inheritance for us, The glory of Jacob whom he loved. Selah

O God thou hast cast us off, thou hast broken us down; Thou hast been angry; oh restore us again.

That thy beloved may be delivered, Save with thy right hand, and answer us.

Hast not thou, O God, cast us off? And thou goest not forth, O God, with our hosts.

By terrible things thou wilt answer us in righteousness, Oh God of our salvation, Thou that art the confidence of all the ends of the earth, And of them that are afar off upon the sea:

Thou broughtest us into the net; Thou layedst a sore burden upon our loins.

Thou didst cause men to ride over our heads; We went through fire and through water; But thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place.

The earth hath yielded its increase: God, even our own God, will bless us.

They said in their heart, Let us make havoc of them altogether: They have burned up all the synagogues of God in the land.

We are become a reproach to our neighbors, A scoffing and derision to them that are round about us.

Remember not against us the iniquities of our forefathers: Let thy tender mercies speedily meet us; For we are brought very low.

Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, stir up thy might, And come to save us.

Thou makest us a strife unto our neighbors; And our enemies laugh among themselves.

Turn us again, O God of hosts; And cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved.

So shall we not go back from thee: Quicken thou us, and we will call upon thy name.

Turn us again, O Jehovah God of hosts; Cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved.

They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; That the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.

Who said, Let us take to ourselves in possession The habitations of God.

Turn us, O God of our salvation, And cause thine indignation toward us to cease.

Wilt thou be angry with us for ever? Wilt thou draw out thine anger to all generations?

Show us thy lovingkindness, O Jehovah, And grant us thy salvation.

Oh satisfy us in the morning with thy lovingkindness, That we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

Make us glad according to the days wherein thou hast afflicted us, And the years wherein we have seen evil.
