Whose collapse is like the smashing of a potter’s jar,So ruthlessly shatteredThat a sherd will not be found among its piecesTo take fire from a hearthOr to scoop water from a cistern.”

The man shapes iron into a cutting tool and does his work over the coals, fashioning it with hammers and working it with his strong arm. He also gets hungry and his strength fails; he drinks no water and becomes weary.

They did not thirst when He led them through the deserts.He made the water flow out of the rock for them;He split the rock and the water gushed forth.

“They will not hunger or thirst,Nor will the scorching heat or sun strike them down;For He who has compassion on them will lead themAnd will guide them to springs of water.

“Therefore thus says the Lord of hosts concerning the prophets,‘Behold, I am going to feed them wormwoodAnd make them drink poisonous water,For from the prophets of JerusalemPollution has gone forth into all the land.’”

The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, but while I am coming, another steps down before me.”
