'Woman' in the Bible
And the rib which the Lord God had taken from the man He made (fashioned, formed) into a woman, and He brought her and presented her to the man.
Then Adam said,“This is now bone of my bones,And flesh of my flesh;She shall be called Woman,Because she was taken out of Man.”
Now the serpent was more crafty (subtle, skilled in deceit) than any living creature of the field which the Lord God had made. And the serpent (Satan) said to the woman, “Can it really be that God has said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?”
And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees of the garden,
But the serpent said to the woman, “You certainly will not die!
And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was delightful to look at, and a tree to be desired in order to make one wise and insightful, she took some of its fruit and ate it; and she also gave some to her husband with her, and he ate.
And the man said, “The woman whom You gave to be with me—she gave me [fruit] from the tree, and I ate it.”
Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this that you have done?” And the woman said, “The serpent beguiled and deceived me, and I ate [from the forbidden tree].”
“And I will put enmity (open hostility)Between you and the woman,And between your seed (offspring) and her Seed;He shall [fatally] bruise your head,And you shall [only] bruise His heel.”
To the woman He said,“I will greatly multiplyYour pain in childbirth;In pain you will give birth to children;Yet your desire and longing will be for your husband,And he will rule [with authority] over you and be responsible for you.”
And when Abram entered Egypt, the Egyptians saw that Sarai was very beautiful.
But God came to Abimelech in a dream during the night, and said, “Behold, you are a dead man because of the woman whom you have taken [as your wife], for she is another man’s wife.”
The servant said to him, “Suppose the woman will not be willing to follow me back to this country; should I take your son back to the country from which you came?”
If the woman is not willing to follow you [to this land], then you will be free from this my oath and blameless; only you must never take my son back there.”
Then I said to my master, ‘But suppose the woman will not follow me [back to this land].’
and if she says to me, “You drink, and I will also draw [water] for your camels”; let that woman be the one whom the Lord has selected and chosen [as a wife] for my master’s son.’
