'Children' in the Bible

From men with Your hand, O Lord,From men of the world, whose portion is in this life,And whose belly You fill with Your treasure;They are satisfied with children,And leave their abundance to their babes.

Come, you children, listen to me;I will teach you the fear of the Lord.

How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God!And the children of men take refuge in the shadow of Your wings.

May he vindicate the afflicted of the people,Save the children of the needyAnd crush the oppressor.

If I had said, “I will speak thus,”Behold, I would have betrayed the generation of Your children.

We will not conceal them from their children,But tell to the generation to come the praises of the Lord,And His strength and His wondrous works that He has done.

For He established a testimony in JacobAnd appointed a law in Israel,Which He commanded our fathersThat they should teach them to their children,

That the generation to come might know, even the children yet to be born,That they may arise and tell them to their children,

Assyria also has joined with them;They have become a help to the children of Lot. Selah.

You turn man back into dustAnd say, “Return, O children of men.”

Let Your work appear to Your servantsAnd Your majesty to their children.

“The children of Your servants will continue,And their descendants will be established before You.”

Just as a father has compassion on his children,So the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him.

But the lovingkindness of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him,And His righteousness to children’s children,

Let his children be fatherlessAnd his wife a widow.

Let his children wander about and beg;And let them seek sustenance far from their ruined homes.

Let there be none to extend lovingkindness to him,Nor any to be gracious to his fatherless children.

He makes the barren woman abide in the houseAs a joyful mother of children.Praise the Lord!

May the Lord give you increase,You and your children.

Behold, children are a gift of the Lord,The fruit of the womb is a reward.

Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,So are the children of one’s youth.

Your wife shall be like a fruitful vineWithin your house,Your children like olive plantsAround your table.

Indeed, may you see your children’s children.Peace be upon Israel!

Both young men and virgins;Old men and children.
