'Oppressed' in the Bible
The Lord also will be a refuge and a stronghold for the oppressed,A refuge in times of trouble;
O Lord, You have heard the desire of the humble and oppressed;You will strengthen their heart, You will incline Your ear to hear,
To vindicate and obtain justice for the fatherless and the oppressed,So that man who is of the earth will no longer terrify them.
“Because of the devastation of the afflicted, because of the groaning of the needy,Now I will arise,” says the Lord; “I will place him in the safety for which he longs.”
Let not the oppressed return dishonored;Let the afflicted and needy praise Your name.
When God arose to [establish] judgment,To save all the humble of the earth. Selah.
The Lord executes righteousnessAnd justice for all the oppressed.
Their enemies also oppressed them,And they were subdued under the [powerful] hand of their enemies.
Who executes justice for the oppressed,Who gives food to the hungry.The Lord sets free the prisoners.
