'Taken' in the Bible

In pride and arrogance the wicked hotly pursue and persecute the afflicted;Let them be caught in the plots which they have devised.

I will rejoice and be glad in Your steadfast love,Because You have seen my affliction;You have taken note of my life’s distresses,

For innumerable evils have encompassed me;My sins have overtaken me, so that I am not able to see.They are more numerous than the hairs of my head,And my heart has failed me.

“When you see a thief, you are pleased with him and condone his behavior,And you associate with adulterers.

For the sin of their mouths and the words of their lips,Let them even be trapped in their pride,And on account of the curses and lies which they tell.

When you lie down [to rest] among the sheepfolds,You [Israel] are like the wings of a dove [of victory] overlaid with silver,Its feathers glistening with gold [trophies taken from the enemy].

You have forgiven the wickedness of Your people;You have covered all their sin. Selah.

Because of Your indignation and Your wrath,For You have lifted me up and thrown me away.

I have remembered [carefully] Your ancient ordinances, O Lord,And I have taken comfort.

I have taken Your testimonies as a heritage forever,For they are the joy of my heart.

Trouble and anguish have found me,Yet Your commandments are my delight and my joy.
