and for many days he appeared to those who came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are now his witnesses to the people.

We ourselves heard this voice coming from heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain.

That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have touched, concerning the Word of life, the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and testify to it, and proclaim to you the eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you may have fellowship with us; and our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.

just as they were delivered to us by those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word,

beginning from the baptism of John until the day when he was taken up from usone of these men must become with us a witness to his resurrection."

Am I not free? Am I not an apostle? Have I not seen Jesus our Lord? Are you not my work in the Lord?

That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have touched, concerning the Word of life,

Then Jerusalem and all Judea and all the region about the Jordan went out to him, and confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River. And when Jesus was baptized, he went up immediately from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and alighting on him.

The baptism of Johnwhere was it from? From heaven or from men?" And they reasoned among themselves, saying, "If we say, 'From heaven,' he will say to us, 'Why then did you not believe him?'

John came baptizing in the wilderness, and preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. And all the land of Judea, and the people from Jerusalem, went out to him and they were all baptized by him in the Jordan River, confessing their sins.

I have baptized you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit." In those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. And immediately coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened and the Spirit descending upon him like a dove.

The baptism of Johnwas it from heaven or from men? Answer me."

Then he said to the multitudes that came out to be baptized by him, "You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance, and do not begin to say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father.' For I tell you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones.

Tax collectors also came to be baptized, and said to him, "Teacher, what shall we do?"

When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was also baptized. And as he was praying, the heaven was opened

(And when they heard him, all the people, even the tax collectors, justified God, having been baptized with the baptism of John. But the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected the purpose of God for themselves, not having been baptized by him.)

They asked him, "Then why do you baptize, if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the prophet?" John answered them, "I baptize with water, but there stands One among you whom you do not know.

This took place in Bethany beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.

I myself did not know him; but for this I came baptizing with water, that he might be revealed to Israel."

I did not know him, but he who sent me to baptize with water said to me, 'He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain, this is he who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.'

Now John also was baptizing at Aenon near Salim, because there was much water there; and people came and were baptized.

He went away again across the Jordan to the place where John was baptizing at first, and there he stayed.

You know what has happened throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee after the baptism which John preached:

And I remembered the word of the Lord, how he said, 'John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.'

And he said, "Into what then were you baptized?" They said, "Into John's baptism." Paul said, "John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in the one who was coming after him, that is, in Jesus."

Then one of the twelve, who was called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests and said, "What are you willing to give me if I deliver him to you?" And they counted out to him thirty pieces of silver. And from that moment he sought an opportunity to betray him.

When Judas, his betrayer, saw that he was condemned, he repented and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders, saying, "I have sinned by betraying innocent blood." And they said, "What is that to us? You see to it!" Then he threw down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed, and went and hanged himself.

Then Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went to the chief priests to betray him to them. And when they heard it they were glad, and promised to give him money. So he sought an opportunity to betray him.

While he was still speaking, Judas came, one of the twelve, and with him a great crowd with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and the elders of the people. So he went his way and conferred with the chief priests and officers, how he might betray him to them. And they were glad, and agreed to give him money. So he consented, and sought an opportunity to betray him to them in the absence of the multitude.

Jesus answered them, "Did I not choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?" He spoke of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, for it was he who was to betray him, though one of the twelve.

Now before the feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart from this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. And during supper, when the devil had already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him,

When Jesus had spoken these words, he went out with his disciples over the Kidron valley, where there was a garden, which he and his disciples entered. Then Jesus, knowing all that was to come upon him, went forward and said to them, "Whom do you seek?" They answered him, "Jesus of Nazareth." Jesus said to them, "I am he." And Judas, who betrayed him, was standing with them.

Now the betrayer had given them a signal, saying, "The one I shall kiss is the man; seize him and lead him away under guard." And when he came, he went up to him at once, and said, "Rabbi!" and he kissed him.

While he was still speaking, a crowd came, and the man who was called Judas, one of the twelve, was leading them. "Brethren, the scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke beforehand by the mouth of David, concerning Judas who was guide to those who arrested Jesus.
