For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit; he who serves Christ in this way is acceptable to God and approved by men.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

You have been severed from Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by law; you have fallen away from grace. For through the Spirit, by faith, we wait for the hope of righteousness.

How much severer punishment do you think a man will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as an unclean thing the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?

You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. Or do you think that the Scripture says without reason: "He jealously desires the Spirit which he has made to dwell in us"? But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, "God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble."
