In all things show yourself a pattern of virtue: in teaching shewing uncorruptness,

for if we made such a discrimination, we should not be punished.

let no man consult only his private interest, but let every man consult likewise the interest of others.

endeavour to approve yourself to God, as an artist that is not afraid of reproach, by rightly explaining the word of truth.

for if I glory even to transport, my glorying is in God: if I am moderate, my glorying is for your service.

for no body acts in private, that designs to distinguish himself: since you do such things, shew yourself to the world.

If, agreeably to the scriptures, you observe that royal law, "thou shalt love thy neighbour as thy self," you do well.

who tho' he was the image of God, did not affect to appear with divine majesty, but divested himself thereof,

and the second has an affinity with it, "thou shalt love thy neighbour as thy self."

Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art, that condemnest another, for by condemning them, you condemn yourself; since you that condemn them, do the same things.

as for me, it is a matter of no great concern that I should be called to account by you, or any human authority; not that I am my own judge;

for all the law is comprehended in this one precept, "thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."

if I testified of my self, my testimony would be suspected.

meditate upon these things, be wholly employ'd about them, that your proficiency may appear to all.

you therefore who instruct others don't you instruct yourself?

for tho' I am independent of all men, yet have I subjected myself to all, that I might gain the more.

not that I am sufficient of myself to effect any thing by the strength of my own reason: but my sufficiency is from God.

compleat my joy, by pursuing the same view, living in mutual love, by being unanimous, and cultivating that harmony.
