What, then, shall we say? Is there unrighteousness with. God? It can not be. For the scripture says to Pharaoh: For this very purpose have I raised you up, that I may show in you my power, and that my name may be published in all the earth. Therefore, he has mercy on whom he wills to have mercy: and whom he wills to harden, he hardens. You will then say to me, Why does he yet find fault? For who has resisted his will? No, but rather, O man, who are you that dispute with God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed, it, Why have you made me thus? Has not the potter power over the clay, to make from the same mass one vessel for honor, and another for dishonor?

Then comes the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down every principality and authority and power: for he must reign till he has put all enemies under his feet. The last enemy, Death, shall be destroyed.read more.
For he has put all things under his feet. But when the scripture says, that all things are put under him, it is evident that he is excepted, who did put all things under him. And when all things shall have been put under him, then, also, shall the Son himself be subjected to him that did put all things under him, that God may be the all in all.

But I wish you to know, that the head of every man is the Christ, and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

And you are complete in him who is the head of all principality and authority:

thou hast put all things under his feet. For, in putting all things under him, he left nothing that is not put under him: but now we do not yet see all things put under him.

but speaking truthfully in love, we might grow up in all things, into him who is the head, even the Christ, from whom the whole body, compactly fitted together, and united by every helping joint, according to the energy in the measure of each part, makes increase of the body, for the building up of itself in love.

for the husband is the head of the wife, as the Christ also is the head of the church; and he is the savior of the body.

Let every soul be subject to the higher authorities. For there is no authority but from God: the authorities that are, have been appointed by God. Therefore, he that resists the authority, resists the appointment of God; and those who resist shall receive to themselves condemnation. For rulers are not a terror to works that are good, but to those which are evil. Will you, then, not be afraid of the authority? Do that which is good, and you shall receive praise from the same.read more.
For he is the minister of God to you for that which is good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for he bears not the sword in vain. For he is the minister of God to inflict punishment on him that does evil. Wherefore, it is necessary to be subject, not only because of punishment, but also for conscience sake. On this very account, too, pay tribute also: for they are the public servants of God, attending continually to this very thing.

Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man, for the Lord's sake; whether it be to the king, as supreme ruler, or to governors, as those sent by him for the punishment of evil-doers, and for the praise of those who do well.

Wives, be subject to your own husbands as to the Lord: for the husband is the head of the wife, as the Christ also is the head of the church; and he is the savior of the body. But as the church is subject to the Christ, so, also, let the wives be subject to their own husbands in every thing.

But I wish you to know, that the head of every man is the Christ, and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. Every man that prays or prophesies, having his head covered, dishonors his head. But every woman that prays or prophesies with her head uncovered, dishonors her head: for it is one and the same as if she was shaved.read more.
For if a woman has no vail on, let her also be shaved. But if it is a shame to a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her have a vail. For a man ought not to vail his head, because he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of the man. But if any one seems to be contentious, we have no such custom, nor have the churches of God.

Wives, be subject to your husbands, as it is becoming in the Lord.

Likewise, you wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they may, without the word, be won by the conduct of their wives, by observing your blameless and reverential conduct. Let not your adorning be that which is outward, which consists in plaiting the hair, and wearing gold, and putting on apparel:read more.
but let it be the hidden man of the heart, adorned with the incorruptible ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which, in the sight of God, is of great price. For, in former times, the holy women also, who trusted in God, thus adorned themselves, being in subjection to their own husbands, as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: and you are her children, if you do good, and fear no dismay.

Now we beseech you, brethren, to have regard for those who labor among you, and preside over you in the Lord, and admonish you,

Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive: for they watch for your souls, as those who must give an account; that they may do this with joy, and not with grief: for that would be fatal to you.

The elders that are among you I exhort, who am a fellow-elder, and a witness of the sufferings of the Christ, and a sharer in the glory that is to be revealed. Act as shepherds to the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight, not by compulsion, but willingly; not for the sake of sordid gain, but from readiness of mind: neither as being lords over God's possessions, but being examples to the flock.
