and the Holy Spirit descended upon him, in a bodily form, like a dove; and there came a voice from heaven, which said: Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I delight.

But I say to you, Love your enemies: bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who insult you and persecute you: that you may be the sons of your Father who is in heaven; for he makes his sun to rise upon the evil and the good, and causes it to rain on the just and on the unjust.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes on him should not perish, but have eternal life.

For he says to Moses: I will show mercy to whom I will show mercy; and I will show compassion to whom I will show compassion.

Then Peter, turning about, saw the disciple that Jesus loved, following, who also reclined at supper upon his breast, and said: Lord, who is he that delivers thee up?

For God is my witness how ardently I love you with the affection of Christ Jesus.

And looking around on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their heart, he said to the man: Stretch forth your hand; and he stretched it forth: and his hand was restored.

And he was in agony, and prayed more earnestly. And his sweat was like great drops of blood falling to the ground.

Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour? But for this purpose came I to this hour.

And if you lend to them from whom you hope to receive, what thanks have you? for even sinners lend to sinners, that they may receive the same. For those whom he foreknew, he predestinated to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the first-born among many brethren:

And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

And we all, with unvailed face, reflecting the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image, from glory to glory, even as by the Lord the Spirit.

and put on the new man, which, according to the will of God, is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Beloved, now are we the children of God, and it does not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
